Nightmares Manila Haunted House Review: Is It Actually Scary?
Nightmares Manila looked like a fun stop for a night out. I did not expect it to scare me as much as it did.
We arrived at about 10:00 p.m. and tried all three haunted houses: Haunted Schoolhouse, Freakshow, and House of Darkness. By the end, I was sweating, breathing hard, and ready to find the exit.

What Is Nightmares Manila?
Nightmares Manila is an indoor horror attraction in Parañaque, Metro Manila. The experience uses dark rooms, live actors, props, sound, special effects, and tight spaces to keep you tense.
The venue has offered several haunted attractions, escape rooms, and a cafe. The exact lineup can change by season. During our visit, we completed Haunted Schoolhouse, Freakshow, and House of Darkness. We did not try the escape rooms, so I cannot review them from personal experience.
Before each attraction, the staff explained the rules. We were told not to run, push, or touch the actors and props. Those rules matter because the rooms are dark, and many scares happen at close range.
Why We Bought the VIP/Vlogger Pass
I booked our Nightmares Manila tickets through Klook. We chose the VIP/Vlogger option because I wanted to record our experience inside the attractions.
The House of Darkness VIP/Vlogger package we reviewed included one admission ticket, front-of-line priority, and permission to take photos or video. It also stated that every person in the group must hold a VIP/Vlogger pass. A person with a regular pass could not film or enter with a VIP pass holder while that person filmed.
That distinction is important. We did not choose VIP only to skip the line. We needed the correct pass for the vlog.
The package information also said that admission to other Nightmares Manila attractions and meals was not included with that single House of Darkness ticket. If you want to visit more than one house, check each selection in your cart. Do not assume that one VIP ticket covers every attraction.
During our visit, our booking included a PHP 200 cafe voucher. However, the current package shown to me says meals and drinks are not included. Package benefits can change, so confirm the details shown on your voucher before you pay.
How I Filmed the Experience
At the start of the video, I said that I planned to use my neck mount for a full point-of-view view. That plan changed.
I had left one of the mount screws at home. Without it, I could not use the neck mount safely. I used the handheld DJI stick instead.
This gave me more control in narrow areas, but I still had to protect the camera when actors appeared or the path became tight. If you plan to film, check every mount, screw, battery, and memory card before leaving home.
You should also make sure your ticket allows recording. Do not arrive with a camera and assume a regular ticket gives you permission to use it inside.
Our First Stop: Haunted Schoolhouse
We started with Haunted Schoolhouse. This was the moment I learned that Nightmares Manila was not going to be an easy walk.
The house used darkness and uncertainty very well. I kept trying to decide if I was looking at a prop, an actor, or an empty corner. That small delay gave the actors time to catch me off guard.
Going through with only two people made it feel more intense. There was no large group in front of us to trigger the scares first. At one point, we both wished we had entered with more people.
The walk took us about 10 minutes. That may sound short, but it felt much longer when we could not see what was ahead.
I entered thinking I would laugh through the whole thing. I came out sweating. My first reaction was simple: that was scarier than I expected.
Freakshow Was Tight, Strange, and Unpredictable
After a quick photo stop, we went upstairs to Freakshow.
This attraction had a different feel. It used creepy figures, a large spider, narrow paths, odd rooms, and surfaces that moved or vibrated under our feet. Some sections made us squeeze through small spaces.
The best trick was the uncertainty. A figure could be a model, an actor, or part of the wall. Even when nothing moved, I expected something to jump out.
I also kept checking behind me. That made it hard to focus on the path in front of us. In one tight section, I became more worried about hitting my camera than getting scared.
By the time we reached the end, I was sweating again. We had survived two houses, but House of Darkness was still waiting.
Taking a Break at Nightmare Cafe
We stopped at Nightmare Cafe before the final attraction. We needed cold drinks and a short break.
We arrived late, so several menu items were no longer available. We ordered Ghost Burgers with cheese. Our meal cost more than the value of the cafe vouchers, so we paid the difference.
The cafe gave us time to cool down and reset. It also fits the horror theme, which makes it a fun place for photos before or after the attractions.
As noted above, do not assume a meal voucher comes with every VIP ticket. Review the package currently offered when you book.
House of Darkness Was the Main Event
House of Darkness began with an elevator scene. The attendant welcomed us, then described the ride as a one-way trip to hell. That set the mood before the main walk even started.
Next, we met Giovanni Gustavo, the caretaker of the cursed mansion. He introduced the story and led us upstairs.
This house felt larger and more involved than the first two. It had moving walls, smoke, dark rooms, closets, stairs, maze-like paths, and a cornfield section. The story and actor scenes made it feel more like a full horror experience than a simple line of jump scares.
The darkness made every turn harder. At times, I searched for a fire exit just to know we were getting close to the end. I could hear things moving, but I could not tell where the next actor would appear.
Misael went first through several sections while I followed with the camera. She was praying at one point, which should tell you how comfortable we felt.
Near the end, an actor delivered one last threat as we tried to find our way out. Then I saw light. We had finished all three haunted houses.
Is Nightmares Manila Actually Scary?
Yes. It was scary for me, and I did not expect that answer before we entered.
The actors and jump scares were effective, but the waiting was worse. You cannot always see the next turn. You may not know which figure is real. You may also choose the wrong path in a dark room.
That uncertainty keeps your mind working against you. Even a quiet room feels dangerous because you expect something to happen.
Your group size can also change the experience. A small group gets fewer warnings from the people ahead. A larger group may feel safer, but you might see scares happen before you reach them.
Tips Before You Visit Nightmares Manila
Book the right ticket
Read every package inclusion before paying. A VIP/Vlogger pass for one attraction may not include the other houses. Everyone filming with you may need the same type of pass.
Arrive earlier than we did
We arrived at about 10:00 p.m. and had to watch the time. Going earlier gives you more room for photos, food, breaks, and extra attractions.
Check the current schedule
Hours and operating days can change. Check the official site or your booking platform on the day of your visit.
Wear comfortable clothes
Expect stairs, narrow areas, and plenty of sweating. Wear shoes that stay secure and clothes that are easy to move in.
Secure your camera gear
Check all screws and mounts before leaving. Use a wrist strap when filming by hand, and keep your gear close in narrow spaces.
Follow the staff rules
Do not run, push, or touch actors and props. Moving too fast in a dark attraction can hurt you or someone else.
Come sober
I had a couple of shots before we arrived. I do not recommend it. You want a clear mind when you are walking through dark rooms and trying to tell actors from mannequins.
Is the VIP/Vlogger Pass Worth It?
The VIP/Vlogger pass was worth it for our purpose because filming was part of the video. The front-of-line benefit was useful, but camera permission was the main reason we paid more.
If you only want to enjoy the attraction and do not plan to record, compare the regular and VIP prices before booking. If you want to vlog, read the filming rules closely and make sure every person in your group has the required pass.

We did not try the escape rooms, so I cannot judge the entire venue. I can say that the three haunted houses gave us a much better scare than I expected.
