Late-Night Amazon Purchases That I Never Thought I’d Share with Anyone

Weird stuff can happen at 10:00 pm and beyond. I made questionable purchases from Amazon that came from real-life questions. Are candy corns bad? Is it really fun to build a Gundam?
All of these questions led to Amazon purchases that changed my outlook on life. Note that the following projects are just for fun and will not do wonders for your blogging skills. Though, what is life without making it interesting with a Nicholas Cage body pillow…. I am just kidding.
Why These Amazon Purchases
Again, the following products are just for fun and something that personally affected me. Feel free to experience the following Amazon purchases as they might also change your life. Just don’t make any buying decisions minutes before going to bed.
Candy Corn
Yes, you heard that right. Candy corn. It is not the kind of candy you will see here in my country. In fact, it is extremely rare to find someone selling it. I was only able to get a bag through Amazon one night because I was watching a comedian. He made a joke about how no one wanted candy corn. I thought, “Was it that bad?” as I had the Amazon store open in one tab.
When that bag arrived after a month of waiting, I finally got the answer. It was actually good. It does not taste like corn, but rather like a fondant with a predominantly sugary flavor. For a year, I got this massive candy corn craving, where I bought different brands.
Brach’s is so far the best out of the bunch. It does not have an aftertaste that I experienced with other brands. Their candy corn also does not taste like its mostly sugar. It has a unique candy flavor that made other people believe in the candy corn supremacy.
Gundam Model Kits
I have a close friend who was a dedicated model kit builder. Building model kits, including Gundam models, would never have been something I considered doing for years. That friend had to move out of the country. While we still talk occasionally, we have never gotten to see each other for a long time.
I associate Gundam model kits with my friend. I thought about him one night when I happened to find a kit that was incredibly affordable. A Gundam RX-78 Entry Grade that anyone new to model kits can build. Bought a box and was instantly hooked to the hobby. True to its name, the Entry Grade organized all of its runners so you only remove the pieces dedicated to its legs, arms, body, and head. You can even remove each piece with your fingers without any nippers. The Gundam EG kits are a great entry point for new builders like me and were worth the midnight splurge.
My hope was to understand why he was having fun building a model instead of just having one already built. When he comes back, I could show him that I got into the hobby too. Having built that model along with others, it was indeed fun putting all the pieces together until you get a unit standing. There have been studies showing that model building can be beneficial to one’s mental health, which I can personally attest to.
SeaRoomy Burritos Tortilla Blanket
Have you ever had a dream of turning into a taco? Just me, then? One late and tired night, I thought about how it would feel rolling into bed like one. This led me to find and buy a tortilla blanket on Amazon that night. My co-workers looked at me weirdly when I took this to the office. Yes, I was one of the odd guys at the office when I was young.
As a blanket, the SeaRoomy Burritos Blanket was comfortable against the skin as advertised. The flannel fabric is incredibly soft and warm. Given its shape, it’s not a suitable blanket for sleeping, as my feet keep slipping out from the bottom. However, it is great to keep warm in a very cold office or when streaming Netflix from the couch.
If you want a better way to keep warm during cold nights, I talked about a good comforter for your bedroom in my article on Amazon home decor options.
Wacky Waving Inflatable Tube Guy
I am a major fan of Breaking Bad and its prequel, Better Call Saul. One of the memorable episodes of the latter was with Jimmy getting inspired by a Wacky Inflatable Man. It was annoying. It was bashfully colorful. It was a foolproof way of getting fired from a law firm he wanted to get away from. Imagine my surprise when I saw there was a mini version on Amazon a week after catching that episode.
The Wacky Waving Inflatable Tube Guy is around 17-inches, nearly the size of my monitors. My unit had a hard time waving and dancing around. But, it did came with a mini book that talked about the Wacky Inflatable Man’s origin.
Overall, it is a decent desk display. While I could suggest better alternatives, it was still priceless to hear my co-workers say, “Is that from Better Call Saul?” when I had this guy shown on my webcam during our office conference.
The Office Answer Wheel
Being one of the weird co-workers, one of the things I had on my desk was an answer wheel. When we were not bombarded by calls, I would spin that wheel whenever a teammate called my attention. It was hilarious for the first week, until my supervisor told me to cut it out and confiscated my sweet wheel.
The Office Answer Wheel is a much better version than mine. While the answers here are hilarious (I Demand Coffee), the real reason to have this is the wheel itself. It is incredibly satisfying to spin the wheel, hear the clacking of the pointer, and watch it slow down until it lands on a square. As a bonus, you also get a joke book with the wheel.
The Book of Useless Information
Reverse psychology is a great persuasion technique. You are likely going to do something you are told not to do. I experienced this when I came across the Amazon listing for The Book of Useless Information. It was the title of the book that evoked a sense of curiosity one night. “What kind of useless information would it have?” I wondered as I went to bed. The next day, I added that book to my cart and have had it on my coffee table ever since.
The Book of Useless Information delivered its promise of giving you random facts on history, geology, culture, and much more. Think of it as a children’s encyclopedia. Though the main reason I bought this is for the title alone. It’s a powerful clickbait title that triggers an emotion. Visitors tend to pick up the book and take a peek instead of reading other, more entertaining magazine options.
Wrap Up: Crazy Amazon Purchases Made at Night
Your mind tends to go places at night when reasoning calls it a day. Much of the Amazon purchases made here are mostly due to curiosity. Do I regret these purchases? Not at all. Many of them solved my long-running curiosity, while others make for a great talking piece.
FAQ: Late-Night Amazon Purchases
Mostly sugar and corn syrup with a bit of dextrose. Makers add confectioner’s glaze and gelatin for texture. Flavorings and food colors finish the classic tri‑color look. Ingredients vary by brand, so check the label if you’ve got dietary limits.
Most modern Bandai kits are snap‑fit and color molded. You can build them out of the box with no glue. Paint is optional for detailing like panel lines and weathering. Older kits or repairs might need glue, but Entry Grades won’t.
The SeaRoomy Burritos Tortilla Blanket is safe to clean in your washing machine.
